You know the Hippi Grace girl loves to travel – even if it’s just downtown (;
In downtown Oslo right next to the City Hall, and a short 2 minute walk from the Royal Castle, in the parallel street of Karl Johans Gate, you will find the Christiania Teater Hotel. The historical building built in 1918 originally as a theater, still have some of the extraordinary details from when it was built. The building has also been a part of the National Register of Historic Places since 2015.
Christiania Teater Hotel is a lovely hotel with 102 charming rooms, all differently decorated as any boutique hotel should be, and an included breakfast buffet that looks mega delicious! In addition to this there is, Teatro, a modern 4 floor wine and dine restaurant space which is what we are focusing on here in this post.
With a menu focused on a few quality dishes rather than a high quantity of different ones, they specialize in Italian style pizzas, with unique topping combinations, so good the major new paper Aftenposten awarded them with the headline “Best Pizza in Oslo”. Teatro separates their pizzas into two main styles, White pizzas and Red pizzas, where the latter is of course made with tomatoes from Italy.
If you are wondering what you should fill your glass with along with your pizzas, there is no need to worry, Teatro offers over 50 different wines by the glass, so you will be sure to find something that suits your taste. And of course a wide variety of other beverages suitable for all ages (and moods).
Also, it is highly recommended to try their eight different types of homemade gelato (ice cream) as dessert!
If you are planning a dinner with a small group, Teatro offers a Chambre separee, a closed off room for your desired company only. For 8 or more guests they also offer a Pizza Sharing Menu for 225 nok per person – all you can eat, meaning a pretty sweet deal! And on Fridays they offer an After Work special on pizzas.
Teatro is recomended by us, so is Christiania Teater Hotel, we liked it so much we booked it for a photo shoot a little while back. And so, if you decide to go as well we hope you have a GREAT time, and please let us know about your experience.
PS. All pizzas can be made gluten free for a little extra sum (25 nok)
